The Village Vanguard at 178 7th Avenue South has been running jazz sets nightly since 1935, the oldest continuously operating jazz club in the city. Sets are at 8pm and 10pm Sunday through Thursday, and at 8pm, 10pm, and midnight on Friday and Saturday. The space is small, the sightlines close, and the programming leans toward serious jazz rather than background ambience. Book in advance for weekend sets.
